Abstract

This paper presents a knowledge management system developed from the perspective of a water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and integrated management system (IMS) specialist. The author has used her experience in developing effective ‘bottom-up’ management systems in corporate, development and humanitarian response to develop a good practice management system to empower, but not overwhelm, local teams with existing knowledge, and support them to continually improve outcomes. The system uses a model to provide a common vision to inspire leaders and managers, and to facilitate engagement with organisations and institutions.
