About the Journal

Focus and Scope

CINDER publishes original research that thinks, theorises and articulates interventions and emerging directions in creative textual practices of all kinds and related scholarship, as well as research in creative writing pedagogy.

It offers a forum for original research articles of approximately 4,000 words from higher degree students and early career researchers (within 2 years of doctoral submission). These may also be published alongside longer commissioned feature articles from, or interviews with, experts in the field or resonant fields.

CINDER's managing Editors mentor and support the Issue Editors, who may be current doctoral candidates, recent graduates or other active, emerging researchers in the field.

CINDER is part of the suite of publications of the AAWP (Australasian Association of Writing Programs), which also includes Meniscus and TEXT journals.

Peer Review Process

CINDER journal follows the editorial process of double blind peer review. All scholarly articles are reviewed by at least two reviewers, and neither author(s) nor reviewers should know of the others’ identities at any time.

Peer review in CINDER aims to be supportive and developmental. The peer review process and the tone of peer reviews are moderated by a managing Editor of the journal. Peer reviews are performed by scholarly practitioners in the field, and may be past contributors to the journal. The peer review process will take approximately five to seven weeks.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
